AAP – 2 – Post-doc

The Défi Clé announces the opening of a new call for projects to fund post-doctoral contracts in Occitanie as part of the multi-disciplinary O3T project.

Eligible research topics

Proposed projects must fall within the scope of at least one of the three axes identified in the Défi Clé O3T (more details here) and focus on one of the four types of targeted territories.

Special features of this call

To be eligible, the candidate must propose a research project with a strong applicative component (field, operational, transfer). The project must demonstrate how the research is anchored in territorial reality and aligned with a concrete operational need linked to territorial transitions.

An immersion of 2 to 6 months within an operational structure will be particularly valued. This may be a local authority, an association, a nature park, a government agency, or a human and social sciences (SHS) laboratory involved in fieldwork.

Funding

The total budget allocated to this call for proposals is a maximum of €540,000, allowing us to finance up to four postdoctoral contracts of €135,000 each.

• 125,000 € dedicated to the postdoctoral salary, covering between 18 and 22 months of salary (depending on the institution’s salary scale and the candidate’s seniority).
• 10,000 € allocated to the project environment (mission expenses, small equipment, etc.).

The postdoctoral contract must end before December 31, 2027, the end date of the program, after which expenses will no longer be eligible.

This call for internship projects aims to fund internships to strengthen the Defi Clé working groups. Particular attention will be paid to projects that are interdisciplinary, cross-site and/or involve non-academic partners from the Occitan region. Selected projects will be integrated into the Défi Clé working groups.

The Défi Clé O3T has launched a new call to fund collaborative projects involving at least two laboratories in Occitanie. Funded projects include one or two half-thesis grants.

Objectives of the call for projects

• Support research in line with the themes of the Défi Clé O3T
• Support the emergence of exploratory / pilot research projects, using all types of approaches, and which may involve risk-taking
• Encourage the structuring of a regional interdisciplinary scientific community around Earth observation and territories in transition, by combining different types of data sources

The main evaluation criteria

• Projects must include at least two Occitanie research units (sponsor and co-sponsor). These units must be from different major disciplines and/or different geographical areas
• Scientific quality : clarity, relevance and interest of scientific objectives, research questions and deliverables, in relation to the objectives of the Défi Clé O3T
• Exploratory/innovative character, new collaborations, regional structuring, interdisciplinary dimension
• Quality of the methodology, skills and complementarity of the people involved

Types of financing

The call for projet O3T-1 plans to fund between 6 and 10 projects. These projects may include one of the following options :

• Half a thesis grant (max. €75,000)
• Two half thesis grants (max. envelope €150,000)
